Open to the right role, or the right project.
I've designed software for 15 years, and with AI I build it too, so I can take an idea all the way to a working product. I'd consider a full-time role, and I'm also available part-time, as a design lead for a small number of companies.
A full-time role where I can lead, design, or both.
I'm Director of Product Design at Strata today. These are the kinds of role I'd look at. Remote, or hybrid and in person in Waterloo Region.
Design leadership
Head of design, director or VP. Running the design function and the people in it, which is my job now.
Senior product designer
Principal or staff level. Doing the design work myself on the hardest parts of a product.
A designer who builds
A role that uses both halves of what I do: designing the product, then building it with AI.
First designer
The first design hire at a young company. I've been a company's only designer before, and set up its design system and its practice.
Or part-time, as your design lead.
Most teams don't need a designer forty hours a week. They need senior judgement applied consistently, by someone who has been around long enough to know the product and the people using it.
An ongoing retainer
A day or two a week, ideally for a year or more. I'd embed with your team, set direction, and do the work as the product grows. No salary, benefits or equity to carry.
A short paid pilot
We start small so we both know it's a fit, then move to the retainer. Several of my client engagements at Strata started this way and grew into multi-year partnerships.
Where I've worked.
Design leadership across healthcare, AI, public sector and enterprise software for clients including Netsweeper and Lonza. Two products from concept to launch in my first year.
Software for cannabis testing instruments, then a second division's hardware release. Managed a contracted UX agency and shipped through validation sessions with real users.
Built UX practice into the product development process, from research and story mapping to high fidelity design. Spearheaded the company's first design system.
Owned all UI and UX for the company. Built and maintained the design system, defined the UX practices, and worked directly with product and engineering.
Senior designer on the product team, responsible for new features and a complete rethink of the web product's UI and UX.
Lead UX designer on Core, a multi-tenant enterprise SaaS product, covering product, launch branding and marketing. Earlier, managed a global design team and shaped the brand guidelines.

An honest conversation about what you need. If I'm not the right fit, I'll say so.
